Approximately 8.5 million living Americans have been diagnosed with some form of cancer. Over 500,000 of them are expected to die this year as a result of their malignancy. Our cancer-screening panels may allow you to assess your risk for developing various types of common tumors long before they become clinically apparent. These panels involve hormones and genetic markers, and include tests which are specific for either men or women.
The Cancer Check for Men screens for and monitors the progression of malignancies originating from the prostate (Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA), Prostatic Acid Phosphatase (PAP)) and from the testes (Alpha Subunit, Neuron-Specific Enolase (NMP22), quantitative HCG).
The Cancer Check for Women screens for and monitors the progression of malignancies originating from the breast (BRCA-1, BRCA-2, CA 15-3, CA 27.29, HER-2/neu) and from the ovaries (CA-125, quantitative HCG, Alpha-feto Protein, Lipid-Associated Sialic Acid (LASA)).
Additionally, it is possible to screen for or monitor individual tumors of various organs that affect both men and women, including: colon and rectum (PreGen-Plus, CEA), liver (Alpha-feto Protein), pancreas (Proinsulin, Pancreatic Polypeptide, CA 19-9, Glucagon), thyroid (Thyrocalcitonin), parathyroid (Parathyroid Hormone Related Peptide), the adrenal glands (DHEA), bladder (NMP22) and bone (Osteocalcin). Some of our tests screen for tumors which may originate in multiple organs, such as carcinoid tumor (Chromogranin A), multiple myeloma (Beta-2 Microglobulin), leukemia and Hodgkin’s lymphoma (Lipid-Associated Sialic Acid (LASA)).
