What is Direct Access Testing?
What is Direct Access Laboratory Testing? Simply put, it is a new concept in laboratory testing. With Direct Access testing at LabSafe, you, the consumer, can learn about available lab tests and decide if you want to be tested. At LabSafe, a trained counselor can assist you in selecting the appropriate tests, and you may also order on-line. Call LabSafe.com today toll free at 888-333-LABS (5227) to arrange your testing!
I feel healthy, why should I get tested?
Because many serious medical conditions such as heart disease, prostate cancer, or diabetes can exist without noticeable symptoms for years. Some people may be carriers of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and not even know. Early detection is your best defense.
A simple blood test can indicate what is happening to assist you in reversal of potential problem areas, and establish a baseline of your normal ranges for which future tests can be monitored.
Do I have to see my doctor or physician to get tested?
No. More and more consumers are realizing that they need to take control of their own health each day. Direct-to-consumer testing programs offer greater participation in one's own healthcare.
Physicians often refer patients to LabSafe.com for this very reason. They know LabSafe offers you the same labs that physicians and hospitals use, which are certified and regulated by the appropriate governmental agencies.
Do I need an appointment?
An appointment is typically not required by our Patient Service Centers. Some tests, however, such as a Glucose Tolerance Test, may require scheduling. The requisition form sent to you by LabSafe.com will indicate if an appointment is necessary. LabSafe.com can offer same day or next day testing during business hours.
Please note, however, that fasting is required for several tests.
Should I fast before taking the test?
The paperwork or e-mail you receive from LabSafe.com will indicate if you need to be fasting. If so, it is recommended that you avoid both food and liquids for a minimum of 8 hours.
Water is permitted during your period of fasting.
When do I receive my results?
Lab testing is a suprisingly fast process, remember you are going directly to the source.
You can expect to receive the results within just three to five days after your blood is drawn.

We do recommend that you take a copy of the results with you when you visit your doctor.
What happens if I receive an abnormal result?
A licensed LabSafe.com Physician will review your results and determine the appropriate course of action
While abnormalities should be considered an early warning, they do not necessarily mean you have an illness or disease.
When abnormalities are detected we strongly recommend you discuss the results with your doctor for further evaluation, testing, and diagnosis.
