Cholinesterase, RBC

A Cholinesterase Blood Test measures cholinesterase in Red Blood Cells to diagnose insecticide (organophosphate and carbamate) toxicity and to detect atypical forms of the enzyme. Cholinesterase is irreversibly inhibited by organophosphate insecticides and reversibly inhibited by carbamate insecticides. Red Blood Cell levels are better for evaluating chronic exposure.
