Drug Test Adulteration - Adulterant testing is done to check the integrity of a urine specimen. Simple dilution of urine is probably the most common form of urine adulteration. Tests for adulterants, specific gravity and creatinine can aid in the detection of common methods for defeating urine drug tests including dilution, or adulteration of the sample with bleach, vinegar, Visine, sodium bicarbonate, Drano, soft drinks or hydrogen peroxide. Some people add potassium nitrite to a urine sample in order to destroy drugs and in an attempt to “beat” the drug test. This test will detect the presence of nitrites in urine.
