NMP22 test is conducted for measuring the levels of NMP22, a Nuclear Matrix Protein (NMP). Nuclear Matrix Protein (NMP) may be useful in the detection of urinary and bladder cancer. A positive result may simply indicate the presence on a non-cancerous condition. However, if positive, a person should follow-up with a visit to their doctor for further evaluation, in order to rule out the presence of cancer.

NMP22 test is performed to identify patients with greatest risk of bladder cancer recurrence after surgery.
