Progesterone test is a simple blood test that is commonly performed in most fertility clinics. A small blood sample is taken from a vein in your arm and then sent to a laboratory for testing. Progesterone is decreased in primary or secondary hypogonadism, and short luteal phase syndrome. A short luteal phase may make it more difficult for a woman to conceive. Progesterone levels can be measured during the menstrual cycle to better understand when a woman is most capable of conceiving.
