Hepatitis Panel is a set of blood tests generally done to check viral hepatitis. Viral hepatitis is liver inflammation caused by infection with a virus. There are three main types of Hepatitis viruses: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. This LabSafe Hepatitis panel checks for all three. Hepatitis B and C are considered sexually transmitted diseases. This LabSafe panel runs three tests for Hepatitis B alone, in order to best screen for Hepatitis B. Without these three tests for Type B, infection may not be detected during the stage of infection known as the core window.
