Immunoglobulin A, Quantitative

Tests For

  • Immunoglobulin A (IgA) Level

Description

IgA test measures the Increased Immunoglobulin A (IgA) level in your blood. The levels of this antibody can help the doctors identify medical conditions in the body.

Increased Immunoglobulin A (IgA) may be produced in disorders of the lymphatic system, especially cancers of white blood cells that produce antibodies (multiple myeloma) and "Mediterranean" lymphoma involving the colon. An IgA monoclonal peak >2 g/dL is a major criterion for myeloma. It may be elevated in a wide range of conditions affecting mucosal surfaces, where IgA is largely produced.

Patients with genetic IgA deficiency are prone to autoimmune diseases, and may develop antibody to IgA. IgA levels may rise with exercise.

IgA test reveals the level of Increased Immunoglobulin A (IgA) in the blood. Call LabSafe toll free at 1-888-333-LABS to speak with a Medical Counselor for further information, or simply order a IgA test online.
