Urine Drug Screen Adulteration - This part of the drug testing process checks to see if a person’s urine has been too diluted. People who drink excessive fluids (tea, shakes, flushes, etc.) in order to try to beat a drug test may fail the drug test due to adulterated urine. The test checks for normal concentrations of key urine components, as well as pH and specific gravity. Because water weighs less than key urine components, adulterated urine will be “lighter” than normal urine.
