  • Liver Health

Description

Albumin test is used to diagnose the albumin level in the body. Albumin tests are conducted if a person’s body shows of liver disorder or nephritic syndrome.

Blood contains large amounts of protein. Two major groups of proteins in blood serum are albumin and globulin.

Albumin is produced mainly in the liver. It helps keep the blood from leaking out of blood vessels. When albumin level drops, fluid is collected in the ankles (pedal edema), lungs (pulmonary edema), or abdomen (ascites). Albumin also helps carry some medications and other substances through the blood and is important for tissue growth and healing.

Albumin test determines albumin levels in the body. Low albumin levels reflect a high possibility of liver disease wherein the body cannot absorb or digest proteins. High albumin levels usually suggest dehydration.
