AAT Blood Test is useful in the detection of hereditary decreases in the production of alpha1-antitrypsin (AAT). Decreased or nearly absent levels of AAT can be a factor in chronic obstructive lung disease and liver disease. It may also be useful in understanding reasons for inflammatory states, if it is elevated. Examples of such inflammatory states are rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infection, and vasculitis.
