The Comprehensive STD Panel, developed by the Medical Doctors only at LabSafe, tests for the following Sexually Transmitted Diseases:

The Chlamydia and Gonorrhea tests use the latest DNA technology to check for the presence of either bacteria in your urine. This type of testing, called Nucleic Acid Amplification testing, is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Other tests may not be effective in the early stages of infection. An added benefit is that this test is done on urine and does not require a penile or vaginal swab.
The three Hepatitis B tests take a comprehensive approach to screening so that Hep B may be detected at any stage of infection. Without the three tests, Hep B may be missed during a stage of infection called the "core window." Furthermore, the results of these tests may help you identify if you are an appropriate candidate for the Hepatitis B vaccine, to prevent a future infection.
The Hepatitis C and HIV tests are standard antibody screening tests. Although these are the standard screening tests, note that for HIV it can take up to 6 months after exposure to develop antibodies to the virus. Unlike other Herpes screening tests, the LabSafe tests may help you identify if you have antibodies to Herpes Type I (cold sores of the mouth) or Herpes Type II (genital herpes). In order to comply with the standards set by the CDC, a Herpes Type II selective test is run in addition to a test that screens selectively for Herpes Type I. Tests performed by other companies may not be able to differentiate between Herpes Type I and Type II. So if you come up postitive, they can not tell you if it is cold sores or genital herpes. Unlike other companies, at LabSafe we spend the extra money and time to perform the best tests.
Why do we not test for genital warts (Human Papilloma Virus - HPV)? The position taken by the LabSafe Chief Medical Officer (Board Certified in Infectious Diseases) is that if you currently have warts in your genital area (signs or symptoms of genital warts), then you need to see a Medical Doctor so that a Physical Exam may be performed, the warts can be examined, and a culture/biopsy may be taken and tested. We do not believe that you should have a laboratory screening test for genital warts without a physical examination and consultation by a qualified medical professional.
